How much semaglutide costs at HealifyMD

Semaglutide is often a months-long treatment, so the monthly price is only half the picture. Here's what you'll pay, what's included, and how to think about a full year.

What the price includes

Your semaglutide price covers the medication, dispensing by a licensed U.S. pharmacy, and the clinical care around it: an online visit with a licensed clinician, a personalized plan, dose adjustments as you step up, and follow-up to check how you're tolerating treatment. There is no membership fee on top.

Shipping and any applicable taxes are shown before you pay. Lab tests, if your clinician needs them, are billed separately. For many people a Comprehensive Lab Panel ($199) gives the clinician a baseline picture of blood sugar, kidney and liver function and other markers before starting.

Monthly billing versus packages

You can pay for the injection month by month, starting at $299, or prepay for a package. The 2-month package is $550 ($275 per month), which lowers the average monthly cost if you and your clinician expect you to stay on treatment. New patients get $100 off the first month.

Monthly billing gives you more flexibility, especially in the first weeks when you're still learning how your body responds. A package makes more sense once you know the medication suits you. The oral capsule is billed monthly at $299.

What a year might cost

Using list prices, twelve months of monthly injection billing at $299 comes to $3,588, and six 2-month packages total $3,300, before the $100 new-patient discount. Add $199 for each lab panel your clinician orders.

These are illustrations, not quotes. The "From" in our monthly price means your exact amount is confirmed at your eligibility review, and how long you stay on treatment is a decision you make with your clinician based on your progress and side effects.

Compounded semaglutide is not Wegovy

The semaglutide we prescribe is compounded by a licensed pharmacy. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold, and they are not equivalent to Wegovy, Ozempic or Rybelsus. Results from the clinical trials of branded products don't automatically apply to compounded versions.

The FDA has also warned about dosing errors with compounded injectable semaglutide, including people measuring the wrong amount, and has said that salt forms such as semaglutide sodium or acetate are not a lawful basis for compounding. Your clinician will explain how your medication is supplied, how to measure each dose, and what to do if something seems off.

Safety is part of the price

Semaglutide's most common side effects are digestive: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and stomach pain, especially as the dose increases. Branded semaglutide carries a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents, and it isn't used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.

Other risks your clinician will review include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems and low blood sugar if you take other diabetes medicines. Semaglutide should not be used during pregnancy, and branded labeling advises stopping at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy.

Comparing our price with branded semaglutide

Branded semaglutide manufacturers now sell some products directly to self-pay patients, and those prices change from time to time and can vary by dose. Because we can't verify a competitor's current price for you, the fairest comparison is one you run yourself on the day you decide.

Line up the total cost of each route for the same period, including clinician visits, any membership, labs and shipping. Then weigh what you get: an FDA-approved branded product with its own trial data, or a compounded medication with clinician oversight at a predictable price. Your clinician can talk through which route fits your health and budget, and there's no pressure to choose ours.

Insurance, Medicare, HSA and FSA

Insurance generally doesn't cover compounded semaglutide. If your plan covers a branded GLP-1 such as Wegovy, that may cost you less, and our Weight Loss Program Membership (from $75 per month) offers clinical oversight for members who fill a branded GLP-1 elsewhere. Medicare's rules on weight-loss drugs have been changing, so check current coverage directly with Medicare or your plan.

IRS guidance allows weight-loss costs as medical expenses when they treat a specific disease diagnosed by a physician, and prescribed medicines generally count. Your plan administrator makes the final call, so ask before paying.

Common questions

Does the price go up as my dose increases?

Our listed monthly price starts at $299. Your exact price for your plan is confirmed at your eligibility review before you pay.

Is the oral capsule cheaper than the injection?

Both start at $299 per month. Packages are available for the injection only.

Is compounded semaglutide the same as Wegovy?

No. It contains semaglutide but is not FDA-approved and is not equivalent to or interchangeable with Wegovy or Ozempic.

Are labs included?

No. Labs are billed separately, for example $199 for a Comprehensive Lab Panel.

Can I switch from monthly billing to a package?

Yes, once you and your clinician agree that continuing makes sense. Ask support@healifymd.com about timing.

Will insurance pay for it?

Insurance generally doesn't cover compounded semaglutide. Coverage for branded GLP-1s varies by plan and often needs prior authorization.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Possibly, if it treats a diagnosed condition. Your plan administrator decides, so ask first.
