The gap between annual check-ups
Executive physicals can be valuable, especially for the hands-on parts: a thorough exam, imaging when it is indicated and time with a physician. But most of what drives midlife risk changes slowly between visits. Blood pressure creeps up during a heavy travel quarter. Weight shifts after a promotion. Sleep deteriorates and nobody measures it.
When results come back borderline, the usual advice is to recheck next year. A year is a long time to wait on a number that could be acted on in weeks.
What a demanding career tends to do to the body
- Long hours: a World Health Organization and International Labour Organization analysis linked working 55 or more hours a week with a 35% higher risk of stroke and 17% higher risk of dying from ischemic heart disease, compared with 35 to 40 hours.
- Travel: frequent business travel has been linked in observational studies to poorer sleep, less exercise, more drinking and higher odds of obesity.
- Sleep: short or broken sleep and undiagnosed sleep apnea affect blood pressure, mood and concentration.
- Alcohol: client dinners and late flights add up, with effects on sleep, liver, blood pressure and hormones.
- Midlife hormones: perimenopause and falling testosterone often arrive during peak career years and are easy to blame on stress.
Common reasons people in leadership roles start with us
Each of these has a short list of measurable causes. The first step is finding out which ones apply to you, then deciding together whether treatment, lifestyle changes or simply watchful retesting makes most sense.
- Energy that has slipped even though the annual physical came back 'normal'
- A borderline cholesterol, blood sugar or liver result that nobody followed up
- Weight that crept on during a heavy travel or growth phase
- Sleep that no longer restores you, or a partner who mentions snoring
- Brain fog, irritability or hot flashes in perimenopause
- Lower drive, libido or recovery that may point to low testosterone
- A wish to set a proper baseline before the next big role
What HealifyMD measures, and what we cannot
Your clinician can order a panel that goes beyond the basics, often including lipids with apoB and lipoprotein(a), HbA1c, liver and kidney function, thyroid, iron stores, vitamin B12 and D, and sex hormones where relevant. We also use structured questions to screen for sleep apnea, mood and alcohol use.
We do not do physical exams, imaging, coronary calcium scoring, stress testing, bone density scans or colonoscopy. We will tell you when one of those is the right next step and you can book it locally or through your executive health program.
How it fits a calendar
The assessment takes minutes online. Blood is drawn at a patient service center near you or near where you are traveling. Your clinician reviews the results with you by video, and most follow-up after that happens by secure message. If treatment makes sense, medication ships to your home from a licensed U.S. pharmacy.
Care is available in the states where our clinicians are licensed, so check our state list if you split time between locations.
What we will not claim
We do not promise extra years of life from optimizing biomarkers, and we do not diagnose adrenal fatigue, which is not a recognized medical diagnosis. If your results are normal, we will say so and suggest when to recheck instead of selling you something. If they are not, we will explain the options, including ones that do not involve a prescription.
