The process

How HealifyMD works, from first question to follow-up

Getting care through HealifyMD takes five steps, and you can stop after any of them. Here is what happens at each stage, who does what, and what you can expect to pay.

Step 1: Tell us what is going on

You start with a confidential online questionnaire. It asks about your symptoms, goals, medical history, current medications and any recent lab results. Answer as fully and honestly as you can, because your clinician relies on it to judge what is safe for you.

This step is free, and it confirms whether HealifyMD can help with your goals in the state where you live.

Step 2: A licensed clinician reviews your case

An independently licensed clinician, licensed in your state, reads your intake and connects with you by video or secure messaging. Some treatments and some states require a live video visit before anything can be prescribed. Your clinician will tell you if that applies.

This is the point where questions get asked: what has changed, what you have tried, what worries you. The clinician may decide you need labs first, a different kind of care, or an in-person evaluation elsewhere.

Step 3: Labs, when they are needed

Many plans depend on bloodwork. Hormone therapy, testosterone therapy and weight-loss medication all have baseline tests that guide whether treatment is appropriate and how it is monitored. If you need labs, you get instructions for a blood draw. Our Comprehensive Lab Panel is $199, and specialty tests are priced separately.

If you already have recent results from your own doctor, share them. Your clinician will tell you whether they are enough or whether anything is missing.

Step 4: Your personalized plan

If treatment makes sense, your clinician explains the options, the reasoning, the expected timeline and the risks, then writes a plan. That plan might include a prescription, lifestyle targets, follow-up labs or a referral. You will see the price before you agree to anything.

Some HealifyMD medications are compounded. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not interchangeable with branded drugs. Your clinician can explain why a compounded option was chosen and what FDA-approved alternatives exist.

Step 5: Delivery, then ongoing adjustment

Prescriptions are sent to a licensed U.S. pharmacy, often a compounding pharmacy, which ships the medication to you with instructions. You can message your care team with questions or side effects.

Follow-up is part of the plan, not an extra. Doses are adjusted based on how you feel and what repeat labs show. Treatment can be paused or stopped if it is not helping or causes problems.

What you pay, and when

The eligibility check costs nothing, and there is no membership fee. If your clinician recommends labs, you see the lab price first. If a treatment is prescribed, the monthly or one-time price is shown and confirmed during your eligibility review, before you are charged.

Some programs have a different first-month price because the first month includes more clinical work. Hormone therapy for women, for example, is $349 for the first month, including baseline labs, and then $99/month; testosterone therapy for men is $249 for the first month, including the lab panel, and then $149/month. Other lab tests are priced separately.

What to have ready before you start

A little preparation makes the first review faster and safer. Gather these before you begin the questionnaire:

  • A list of every prescription, over-the-counter medicine and supplement you take, with doses.
  • Any lab results from the past year, especially hormone, thyroid, lipid and glucose tests.
  • Your major diagnoses and surgeries, including a hysterectomy, blood clots, cancer or heart disease.
  • Your height, weight and, if you track it, a recent blood pressure reading.
  • A short note on what you most want to change and what you have already tried.

What we hold ourselves to

  • Measure before treating, so decisions rest on data as well as symptoms.
  • Let the clinician decide. HealifyMD staff do not make medical decisions.
  • Explain the evidence honestly, including when it is limited or early.
  • Keep pricing visible and confirm it at the eligibility review.
  • Protect your information under our privacy policies and HIPAA notice.

When online care is not the right fit

Telehealth works well for many midlife concerns, but not for everything. A clinician may need to examine you in person, order imaging or refer you to a specialist. Online care is never the right place for an emergency. If you have severe chest pain, sudden weakness, trouble breathing or a mental health crisis, call 911.

Common questions

How long does the online assessment take?

Most people finish it in a single sitting. Having your medication list and any recent lab reports handy makes it quicker.

Will I talk to a real person?

Yes. A licensed clinician reviews your case and communicates with you directly by video or secure message.

What if the clinician says no?

You will not be charged for treatment you are not prescribed. The clinician may suggest labs, other options or care elsewhere.

Can I use labs from my own doctor?

Often, yes, if they are recent and include the markers your clinician needs. Upload them during intake.

How is my medication shipped?

A licensed U.S. pharmacy prepares and ships it to the address you provide, with instructions for storage and use.

Can I stop at any time?

Yes. Let your care team know, and your clinician can advise whether a medication should be tapered rather than stopped abruptly.
